Dermaplane treatments last about 20-30 minutes. The area to be treated will be cleaned, and then sterile blade will be used to gently exfoliate your skin. No anesthesia is needed. The sloughed off skin cells and “peach fuzz” will be gently wiped away at the end of the procedure – revealing a fresh, vibrant skin surface.
- Removes soft facial hair (“peach fuzz”) that traps dirt and oil
- Enhances the effectiveness of other skin care treatments (chemical peels) by allowing for deeper penetration
- Increases the absorption of creams and other daily skincare
- Gives makeup a smoother application that looks flawless
- Reduces fine lines
- Blends the look of recent acne scars, age spots, and other raised imperfections
When will I see results?
Initial benefits from Dermplane treatments are immediately apparent. However, optimal results require regular maintenance treatments. It took many years for your skin to lose its vitality, and it takes time to regenerate new cells.
What can I expect after my treatment?
Because Dermaplaning is non-invasive it has a low risk of complications and is one of the safest skin rejuvenation procedures available. Some patients report redness or dry feeling in their skin after a treatment, but this is temporary. Typical care following your treatment includes the use of moisturizers and sunscreens, and avoiding sun exposure for a few days. There is no downtime for this “lunch hour” procedure, and most people return to their regular activities immediately.
Will the peach fuzz on my face grow back darker and thicker?
No. This is a common myth, but the hair on your face is not the same as the hair on your legs or bikini line. It will not be affected by a Dermaplane in any way.
Can I combine Dermaplane with other treatments?
The answer to that is a resounding yes! Not only can you combine a Dermaplane treatment with Chemical Peels, or Laser treatments, we recommend you should! By removing the outermost layer of the epidermis, a Dermaplane treatment then allows whatever rejuvenating treatment that follows it to have a deeper and more long-lasting effect.
Is Dermaplane safe for acne prone skin?
Dermaplaning is suitable for most skin types except those with deep cystic acne or excessive production of sebaceous gland oil. If the hair is removed, the oils can cause bacterial growth that can stimulate acne breakouts.
